has a mk3 astra gsi got enough power and torque to pull a midium size caravan? would to damage to rear shocks as it sits on its ass when i have 3 people in the back!

you will need to check the vehicle safe towing weight if you exceed that then you coulod be in for a hefty fine and points as a rule its about two thirds of the cars kerbside weight hope this helps ps a set of coil spring assisters would help the car from bottoming out(towsure about 20 pounds a pair)

lol, you'll know the weight acting on the tow bar when you hitch it up.

75kg is very heavy.

shouldnt really have any more than about 30-40kgs on the hitch

which makes me very worried when i see folk pulling their huge twin axle caravan with their landcruiser and there is that much weight on the hitch the truck looks like its trying to take off...

yeah, tow limit is 1200kg, so it'll be OK.

Big issue will be wind at speed if it's a square fronted van.

I've seen someone towing a huge twin axled caravan with a 1.3 Mk1 fiesta before

I was pissing my pants as we overtook them

Videos needed of:

- Stalling/wheelspins
- A GSI sitting at 50mph on the motorway OR you flying along overtaking stuff. But not both.
- Speedo if you hit any respectable speeds
- The Saxo VTR full of scallies that will overtake you at some point
- The same VTR full of scallies that you will overtake whilst simultaneously ****ting yourself with laughter
- Warped head with it overheats :D

lmao

Saying that I used to own a Fiesta 1.8 Diesel (MK3). I drove it to North Devon every other weekend to see the girlfriend (260 miles ish each way).

One night I was going up a hill at around 60 when I saw some headlights approaching rather quickly. I stepped on it and managed to hit 80mph before a Subaru Imprezza flew past with a huge caravan on the back.

I tried to catch up but he was long gone - couldnt believe how fast he was going lmao

Was going along the A51 towards Stoke a couple of months ago, doing about 70.

Saw a Range Rover Sport (a proper 4.9l supercharged V8 job - I'm a land rover nut too ;) ) pulling out of a side road with a caravan behind and thought to myself what a fantastic towing vehicle that must be.

No sooner had I finished musing this it came flying past me. lmao

Must have been doing a ton, caravan was just along for the ride. :D

The figures you need are your cars kerbweight, then the safe recommened match of van is 85% of that, but also, not exceeding the train weight limit.

If you go to
http://www.whattowcar.com/

You can try and match the combination.

Looking at a 2.0ltr Astra and the smallest van available, it is a 100% match, so anything bigger will take you into the ÂŁ2000 fine area if stopped while towing, plus of course the extra charges of having a dangerous outfit, and everything else they will throw at you, that is, if you make it past the end of the road before the weight rips the back end off your car, or you try and stop at a junction and get shunted into whatever happens to be passing that junction at the time.

Quite simply, its a stupid idea at best, a dangerous idea at mid thinking, and a life extinguishing idea at worst
