MK3 astra heater problems

Hi,

My brothers R reg MK3 astra's heaters have stopped working.

The fan works and both pipes at the matrix are hot, the temp control knob and cable are working fine aswell, i can see the lever moving on the heater box too.

The thermostat is also fine, get's to temp quickly and doesnt drop when driving.

There is a little heat from the vents but i stress a little, mabey 5degrees above outside temp.

Does anyone have any idea's what could be wrong?

Any help would be appreciated as he's struggling to drive the car at the moment as it's so cold lmao

engine's a X16XEL incase it makes a diff.

Paritally blocked matrix ? Could be just enough flow to get the pipes hot but not the whole matrix.

Sounds like you're going to have to strip back to the matrix whatever you do.

sounds like your thermostat is stuck open

I've got the center console out at the moment but i fear the dash may have to come out to get the heater box out, is that right?

if its any use the wifes astra had a similar problem, turned out to be an airlocked matrix

bled it through and is now toasty warm car
