hey there.

I am new to this forum and i do appologise if i have posted this thread in the wrong place but i have a problem that involves my alarm and digi dash.

I have been doing a Daewoo Nexia conversion to a Mk astra Gte over the past year and it is nearly gone and running i am just exsperacing a little tecnical problem.

I have fitted a Hawks Alarm system to my project and it all works fine only wanted it to lock the doors due to all side of the car is smoothed and all keyless ignition.

the problem is since i have fitted the alarm followed the instructions carefully it all works but now my digi dash dosnt light up and show the speedo rev counter ect. the car starts and the center consol works and lights up fine just the digi dash. The indicator lights ect work just not the rest.

I have done some research and some people said it was the alarm stopping it from working so i thought i would post on here to see if anyone has come across this problem before. Any advise will help .

thank you for your time

Kind regards.

If you shine a bright torch onto it, can you see the digits ? When the dash is first turned on it will flash through all the segments.

If not then you need to check for a decent ground on the three brown wires from the white plug on the dash and 12 volts when the ignition is on going to the two black wires (white plug again).

You've not done something silly like knocked the dashboard dimmer on the car down to minimum have you ?

P.s. the digidash is pretty dumb - if you just have a live to the black wires and ground to the browns it will illuminate and run through its self test startup.

Ok - its dead easy to get the digidash at least displaying something.

Disconnect both grey/green wires - this disables the dimming relay and the dash will run at full brightness
Make sure the three brown wires are earthed properly from the white plug
Make sure the two black wires on the white plug are at +12v with the ignition on.

If the above conditions are met, the dash will display. I suspect you've cut the ignition feed to the clocks somehow when you wired in the new alarm.
