a great build thread i would love to be able to get a job like this would also come in handy for doing my nova.

looks like a B one to me, as it has a threaded rod and a nut on the end, C ones are opposite, the thread is tapped into the rod and a big bolt secures the wheel boss. how much did you need to chop? my car has a dash bar fitted too so thats right in the way too just for good measure...

It's a Corsa B EPS, you need to use the bracket off an EPS Corsa too.
You cannot use a bracket off a Corsa with oil power steering or a corsa without power steering. Found this out the hard way.

I see you have a vertical hydraulic handbrake fitted. This is a hot subject in Road Rally circles at the moment as they are talking about banning them, all due to some competitiors confusing them for the gear stick and pulling it by mistake at high speed. Thought I'd mention it, might be worth you checking if you can use it in your chosen area (obviously not road rally as your car is two tone).

You can just needs a little bit of work there's some pics on my build thread but if you have the original bracket it will make life much easier.

Been getting a few more bits bolted on.

Got the engine in. Pleased with how everything lined up after we had to do the mounts in the chassis legs. Managed not to damage the paint work too!

Most of today was spent plumbing the extinguisher into the engine bay, took longer than expected but running the rigid pipe around stuff is a pain and needed to make some little brackets for the 4 nozzles.

Re: Corsa Rally Car
how much was the fire extinguisher if you dont mind me asking
We were provided with the extinguisher by a sponsor, Demon Tweeks do them for 750 though. If you're intereted in one I'll find out how much he'll do another one for (it'll be a fair bit less than Tweeks).

The upright handbrake is fine for stages.
If someone can't tell the difference between the handbrake and gearstick (even at speed) I think they should be calling it a day... But watch this space!

looking very nice. glad to see the pics of the hockly mounts, gonna be fitting them to mine soon, or atleast as soon as i order some, tried to order them 3 weeks ago but the machinist was off sick so they could make up the threaded bosses apparently. hopefully i'll be able to order them this week coming.

also have you fitted your bonnet intake yet? is it hard to do? mine is in the post now (along with rediculously expensive grpA wheel studs :( ) and i need to get it together, along with lamp pod mounts asap so i can get my panels painted as the painter is ordering extra for me to repaint the shell.

The flat duct part of it goes straight on, stuck mine on with sikaflex adhesive. The front bit went on ok too, offered it up to the bonnet and marked around the inside of the opening and cut the bit out of the bonnet with a jigsaw. Stuck this on with the same stuff. You might need a bit of fibreglass or filler to neaten up where the 2 bits meet under the bonnet.
It was suprisingly easy to fit and was one of the few things that hasn't needed buggering about with.

Got problems with tie bar bushes that don't fit, supposed to be for the later type front end but are far too slack in the mount, can slide them in and out for getting on 5mm.
Also problems with top mounts that are bigger than the diameter of the suspension turret.:(

aye theres 2 different size of tie bar bushing. im using the earlier shell with early arms etc and i need to use the smaller type. not ordered them yet tho.

i take it youve removed the standard top mount guide from the turret? once i cut that away from mine the top mounts fitted up nicely.

The mounts off the old car fit fine Kenny but the new ones are probably getting on for 2inch bigger in diameter and are nowhere near fitting.

Anyone got any pictures of some polybushes fitted in the later style corsa (and I'm guessing tigra) tie bar mounts. Mine seem to have loads of lateral play in the mount, spoken to the manfacturer and they can't offer any explanation, perhaps I'm missing something obvious??

Have a look at my for sale thread if you need anything for your car. Plenty of rally parts I'm selling!
Nothing I need I'm afraid, service crew might like the gazebo but they've got a ground sheet and waterproofs already!

Rubber hose and duct arrived to finish off connecting heater up.
It's smaller and lighter than the standard setup and has made loads of room under the dash. Hopefully do the trick of keeping the windscreen demisted.

The dash has come back from flocking. Pleased with it.

Cleaned up a gearbox casing and took some material off the inside so the diff goes in and out easier when it's built up. Did it at both sides but you can't take much off the other side as you're soon to where the bearing shell sits.
Fitted new bearings, oil seals and the crown wheel and then put it back on the car. Still need to fit the cluster but will do that when it's on the car.

Whilst the box was off fitted the new thrust bearing to match the Superclutch (on the RHS, standard on the LHS) which is a fair bit different to the standard one.

Sorted the hinge mounts out for the fibreglass boot. It came with nuts moulded into it but no hinges so cut some out of an old boot and fitted them. They are spot welded onto the original boot so ground them off and had to drill them which was a right tw*t as the hole location was where the spot welds had been which was hard as hell. Several drill bits later and a bit of filing and it all lined up. The outline of the hinge was visible in the moulding of the GRP which made it easier to get the position right.

Also welded the threaded boss into the front gearbox mount rather than using one of the existing holes.

A couple more jobs out of the way, still a few to go.

does that mount use a bolt thru the bushing on the chassis and then just a nut on the other end normally? im just waiting on mine coming from hocklys now, hopefully i'll get them this coming week so i can make some progress.

that little heater looks good, are you using a heated screen too?
