    Re: Corsa GSi...(Long Term Project)

Decided to do some work on the bay today, decided to cut the rust bits out and the cut out the areas for the smoothing of the bay and removal of the battery tray
As it started from where I left it

    battery tray removed

Rusty patch around the brake servo mounting point

    chop chop.....

chopped off lots of other bits that "arn't needed" quite enjoyed being in the sun today too which was a plus then decided to make some tea and gave it a quick coat of primer just in case I don't continue tomorrow to protect the bare metal from the elements

Still lots more to do on this, may be measuring an making the plates that need to go in to get the look I'm after tomorrow if tomorrows plans change.

In case I've missed anything - is that for a dual braking system so you can alter the bias? Looks good - is it going up inside the dash?

yea sort of mate it replaces the servo diaphram and standard single master cylinder which is removed and this bolted in its place, thought it would be a good idea to uprate due to the willwoods needing more juice and I can fine tune the balance with the aid of a bias tap will get some pics up of how it goes together in the next few days or at the weekend

Today decided to build up the pedal box for the brakes and strip the old unit off and paint up so it looks nice.
The original OEM brake master cylinder setup

Striped down to its parts to clean up & paint the bits being reused

Cleaned up the mounting plate and painted

Built back up with the new pedal box in place

And all wrapped up to keep it tidy till fitting time

    Re: Corsa GSi...(Long Term Project)

Well today I've been busy in prepperation for the next few months where the Weather is likely to turn a lot colder, organising/tidying best I can my work area in the shed, as I plan to do most of what I can in there to keep warm (buying a heater soon), also got some new marine ply roof panels coming to fix the leaking roof, and also to build the storage extension to the shed

I also took the time to wrap up all the car pannels and trim (and other stuff) bits as best I can to protect them and make them a bit easier to store,
heres what some of it looked like bloody loads more wrapped but was that bored of it couldnt be bothered to take any more pics -->

Off to Topgear Live and the Nec Classic car show next week so going to have a root throught the stalls too, so may be returning with some new bits to add to the collection...... hopefully

    Re: Corsa GSi...(Long Term Project)

Right first off some new bits I got last week for the car while at the Topgear & NEC Classic Car show-->
    HID Kit

    HeatShot washer jet heater

Today decided to empty the cars interiour, had a suprise when I Lifted the cover off the car to see this......

..........clever sod managed to get in thru the opening for the brake pedal, left loads of hair on the seat too lmao

Then got the seats an other trim that was already removed n just stored in there out, then pulled the carpet out,

Then got side tracked n started to take some of the sound deadening of with the scraper,

    few rust holes

then realising it was getting dark and I had all the interiour piled up and not wrapped up ready for being stored, decided to break off and wrap it up and put away before all the light went

Thats it for now gonna take the dash out and attack the sound deadening next weekend then cut the rust out of the floor

    Re: Corsa GSi...(Long Term Project)

Well never got round to doing what I planned last week, but got a good bit of last weekends work done today, and bonus again was it was inside the car so wasn't cold or wet as it's been raining all day
Anyway I spent quite a few hours removing the sound deadening which annoyingly unlike all other cars I've stripped sound deadedng out of didn't come off in big chunks, rather it was like chiseling tar got near enough all of it off looks like this at the mo -->

And can now cut this area of rust out wich is the worst of the floor rust

gotta few small spots of the sound deadnig to scrape off but ran out of power in the torch, so will do that tomorrow and then take the dash out

    Re: Corsa GSi...(Long Term Project)

Not updated this in a while been upto a few bits on the car over December, basicly gutted the rest of the interiour and stripped off the rest of the sound deadening, then painted it up, leaving the areas that are bing cut out or that ar gonna get burned from the welding (they will get a coat of paint once the fresh metal is in)

And now with paint on, finish of the paint isn't critical as its gonna be covered over anyway, got it in everywhere a good few liters gone into this so far

Also been getting more bits, got a pair of equal length drive shafts, off a member on here and the center shaft is on its way from another member, also bought some rear discs with hubs etc will need a refurb but not bad for the price also got a set of std rear lights offa member of here too

Also got an F28 gearbox on its way bought from a member on here

Next up the grinder is coming out gonna start cutting out the rust......well that is once I've finished chopping down and cutting up the trees that fell over in the back garden .........will update in due course
