is it possible to put a 2.0 8v 1989 into a 1993 cav 2.0 16v xe would it plug right in or would a lot of work be involved ?

does anyone know if the loom is different both cars are sri s one is a G reg 8v mine is a L reg 16v which needs a few things done to the engine and clutch . It would be easier to take the 2.0 16v engine and box out for the work and put in the 2.0 8v for now so i still have my car on the road just need to know if there is any difference in the wiring loom ???????

My experience of the 2 litre 8v that I whipped out of a cavvy and stuck in me nova is that the engine-to-ECU loom is self contained, i.e the car will still 'work'. I's assume the 16v isn't much different.]

Overall I'd say the easiest thing would be to buy a Nova SimonP stylee and run it for a bit till your cav is sorted!
