Seen this on another forum.

The video makes out that the engine has been reversed, when really, its only been turned around.

People have been doing it for years with XE's so its no real big deal.

 

B16 has the gearbox on the passenger side, so if you flip it longitudinally, and fit a rear wheel drive ford gearbox you would have 5 reverse gears and 1 forward gear.

the video clearly states they have made the engine run (rotate) clockwise to provide the correct drive. hence "reversed"

 

they would have had a sh!t-fit if they had found out about our honda s2000 powered rwd drive pug 205 or our 280bhp xe powered rwd 205 that we have now!

 

that video is quality, made me chuckle

 

so darreh, it is actually reversed then? How do you suppose they have managed that.

 

New cams that open and close the valves at the right time would be needed. Starter that starts the other way. Probably a dry sump because the normal sump would pump oil the wrong way and you'd have no pressure, likewise PAS for same reason. Alternator wouldn't work backwards, the regulator would stop it putting anything out I think but that's easy to swap for another. Water pump - I'd pull the impeller off and fit a opposite one, freely available and bearing shafts are standard sizes. Then map it I reckon.

Two suggestions for next time though:

1) Use an S2000 engine. The money you saved you spent on getting it to run the other way.

2) Turn the rear diff upside down. But the gearbox might die running backwards. So go with 1)
