Removing EGR stuff and Secondary air intake on X20XEV engine? how to do it?

What the title says really. How is this done? What do you remove? and what needs blocking up?

Any pics, info, or diagrams would be great.

Not sure i'd bother mate. I went the whole hog and blocked the EGR with a blanking plate, rerouted the rocker cover breather to a catch tank and sealed the intkae, removed all of the SAIS including the pump from the NS wheel arch. 1 year later, no noticeable gains in terms of anything and a failed MOT due to a knacked Cat, most probably caused by no EGR.

Not worth the effort IMHO but if you want to know how I can PM you the details.

A CAT is not damaged by removal of the EGR system. Cars had CATs long before they ran EGR systems.

Unburnt fuel going through the exhaust or running excessively lean cause CATs to fail.

on my engine i have had the egr ports in the head welded up and have put a plate over the hole where the egr valve sits.

on the sai i have had the exhaust ports reshaped to remove the sai and on the exhaust manifold i welded up the holes for the sai pipe also removed all the pipe work and pump.

if you unplug the egr valve and sai pump im will probaly put the ecu lamp on.

i am running throttle bodies so are no use to me on my engine.

You can unplug the SAI pump.

The ECU only checks the relay works.

The EGR Solenoid must remain connected, although you can remove the valve part on the Ecotecs, as there's no feedback to the ECU, just a current check on the solenoid.

It's quite a high power resistor required, so cheaper to leave just the solenoid part fitted.

The ECU only checks for eh SAI relay, so you can remove everything after that.

If you've got an arc welder and some eutectic rods you could just weld up the manifold.
