Have you considered hiring one of those carpet cleaners from Homebase / Tesco etc for the weekend ?

 

I Just jet washed a boot carpet before scrubbing with some tfr shampoo then jet washed again and left to dry and it came up great

This thread would've got so many more replies if you'd said rug.

+1 for jetwash action, shampoo and jetwash gets them like new. Just don't go too mad or you may end up with a Brazilian.

 

I'm being told that renting an extractor will give a better result than a combination of diesel powered jetwash and Meguiars Heavy Duty Carpet & Interior Cleaner is this correct?

 

Erm possibly. A jetwash and some shampoo has the advantage of costing fook all to try though

 

There is a wide variety of carpet cleaning shampoo on the market to clean carpet spray it on the surface of the carpet, and work it in slowly and methodically with your brush and dry it.

 

Jetwash wins for me too. Couldn't believe how well a carpet came up after jetting it.

It got out black stains from spilling house radiator sludge which rug doctor had failed with.......
