I have a 2001 Vectra 2 litre Turbodiesel with the Electronic Diesel control. Its now done about 58,000 miles and I have serviced it myself every 10,000. (I know thats more often than needed)

I would have though by now that the 'service due' lights would be showing on the dash but there has been no sign Any idea what triggers them ? I cannot see that they reset themselves when I service it. Any ideas ?

Read the manual. This'll tell you if there are any such lights.

i thought it just used the ECU to work out how many miles it had done, and if the milage was >= a service interval, then it lit up.

Vaux reset the light/counter on a service.

Thats what Audi's do anyway

vectra hasnt got a service light mate! only astra g + new corsas have em

The manual says it has. I think all post 2000 cars had it fitted. Its supposed to display on the digital milometer before you turn the key to start. Perhaps its broke. I guess its no great loss anyway !

Trust me mate i work for a vauxhall main dealer they deffinatly dont have service lights , they use the same pages from the hole vauxhall ranges in every manual . hope this puts your mind at rest
