so the oil is going to compress the springs as well then?? i don't think so.. there's not enough movement in a hydaulic lifter to open a valve enough to mash agains pistons..

It would just pop a seal. Same thing as if you were to over fill it. You may get some smoke at the back as it'll be more prone to oil surges I guess.
