Been quoted at 800 quid.
Its only a bloody H reg Astra 2.5 V6.

Driver is 28 with 50% ncb in a low crime area for 3000 miles a year.
Car is also fitted with the Vectra transponder immobiliser.

Anyone got experience of where to go to get insurance from a company with a realistic outlook.

Thanks.

Paul.

u could try.....

greenlight, i have been told they are a nightmare when it comes to a claim though. i'm with them but may go 4 a better firm this year. no one can beat their prices and i do mean no one i used all the free phone no's and cos i have modded the car insurance firms are limited when it comes to cover....... and that includes being an advanced driver for the ambulance service

ring around all the free phone no's then go for the 0870 etc etc no's.

i pay 635 f/c for the omega (they dont know about the cams so neither do i ;) ) lowered 40mm and a s/steel zorst with 17"wheels.

in my experience the 0800 numbers give crap quotes, i reckon they make up for the cost of the calls in their premiums lmao

Best to get online quotes from tesco or direct line, mess about with NCB protection etc then go to your local brokers etc and blag 10 % off the internet quote and see how you get on, thats what i`m doing, so far i`ve got it down to £500 for a prelude 2.2 vtec at 23 with 4 yrs NCB not bad, so keep looking and good luck.

i've herd mixed opinions about Lpool Vic. sounds like they can only sell limited amounts of modified car insurance a day or summink. Both my mates with XE nova's, got cheap insurance threw them.
1.1yr no claims, 6 points and in nice area 24yr old £870
2. 2yr no claims, 22yr old no points, bad area. £645

but when i phoned up on a couple of occaisions they literally told me to p**s off. dont know what to make of them. tw*ts.

Thanks people.
That quote above is more like it though. I cant understand it as my mate is same age as me and my kit car with 2 litre engine, no roof, no doors, just vinyl, parked on high street is 270 fully comp, insured for 2000.
This astra might be a V6 but its not silly scary fast. It cant be that much of a risk.
The thing it most needs is an agreed value as book price in its original form is probably 250quid. A long way from the 3000+ its had spent on it.
Never mind eh?

Surely if you do an engine swap, they have to insure you as if you were driving the donor car? Thats what i thought anyway? What was the donor car that the V6 came from?

Tried another "specialist" company from redline magazine today, thought I would get quote as good as poss before trying firms recomended on here. Still no good.
Answered all their questions and was then told that no astra 2.5 v6 was listed so they cant even quote it.
The first thing the idiot asked me was what cc is it. Then he asks me again ten minutes later and when i repeat it he says he cant help.
Dingleberrys, all of em.:(
