Decided to strip my Nova XE and have discovered the muppet that had my car before me decided to fill the entire car with dynamat sound proofing! I am currently tryin to remove it but without much luck, the problem is the black 'tar' which seems impossible to get off. I have spend about 20hours this week with a hammer & wallpaper scraper and am about 60% thru the job. Any idea of any solvent that will take it off? Have tried using a blowtorch, paint stipper, brake cleaner, rubber buffer... With a wire wheel it just clogs it up.
Any ideas?
Also i have found a bit of rust, not loads, at the passenger rear footwell. It is and the join to the 'step'. Also a bit at the rear inner arch base. Are these panels esay to replace? Have just rebuilt the front so i might as well do the rear.
Cheers Tom

I was going to suggest a hairdryer or heat gun ..
but Blowtorch!!
You must have been really cheesed off with it!

WD40 takes a wonder of things off.. you have to scrap the majority off first
