Is this a F20 gearbox?
Are you talking of remving the driveshaft from the F20?

If so mine just came out, no circlip or anything. The Haynes book just said you need to prise it off with a 'suitable tool'. Having said that I still can't get my nearside driveshaft out of the F20 though, just won't budge. The other side just fell out!

thanks for the reply mate but i was talking about the central input shaft in the gearbox/clutch.. if anyone does know what the size of the 12 splined key is (i think its 8mm) then that would help me out a lot cheers.

yeah i thought it was cheers mate, i got the small circlip out the other day so its just the splined key to get hold of, and then i've got the proper slide hammer tool to remove it after that.
