I'm attempting to polish an X20XEV inlet manifold and its starting to look shiny. Problem is, it's covered in so much crap and dirt from being on the engine, it's ruining the pads, and not getting through to much metal. So is there anything I can use that will just remove the dirt straight away, some kind of liquid/spray whatever?

use a tooth brush and some "jizer" or "gunk". alternatively, foaming oven cleaner will do wonders but you MUST wear gloves when you use is. follow this with wirewooling. You cannot polish it up fully, because it is alluminium and the surface will tarnish to alu oxide as soon as it hits the air, meaning the best finish you will get is pewter like, unless you chrome it.
