right its been that long since i had my mfd workin that now i have got one,
i dunno if its workin right

u can only see it when the lights are turned on?

is this normal?

as my head has gone blank and i cant remember

Its meant to dim when the lights are on and be bright when the lights are off. It could be a bad regulator on the mfd causing it to turn its lights off when the headlights are on.

Try disconnecting the wire to it that is live with the headlight on and it will stay on at full brightness all the time mate

it is only bright when the lights are on mate
when they are off it goes off

if u pulled the stereo out u prolly wont get it lit up unless the lights are on

but with the last stereo i had im sure it was bright and then even brighter with the lights

on my astra it didnt light up unless lights were on, i then found when the prev owner had cut all the wires to the stereo thats what killed it, so i bodged the illumination wire (headlights on) from the MFD to the ignition wire from the stereo, lights nicely now

just noticed that when my ignition is off the mfd stil lights up a bit but wen i turn the ignition on the mfd goes off until the lights are turned on then the mfd lights up agen
