i know its not a vauxhall but i think you's will like it
this is the mate that has done all the work on my nova's
i am just copying his post's
big thread on the way!!!
it begins, had the s1 6 months now and its now time for it to get a tidy up (well a complete rebuild)so over the winter i will be knee deep in s1 rust and old panels to transform it into a whiter than white s1 turbo, on top it looks really good but as you will see its got its problems
bodge job this is surposed to be a new scuttle panel fitted for a cost of £300 by the last owner
in need of a new rear panel +rear corners
2x new wings needed
more rot under the fuse box
engine out and engine bay stripped
this is prop the worst bit its been plated underneath ,but someone never cut the rot out so it spread :wft: same on both sides so its gonna get 2x full floor pans
so thats how far i hav got ,still tryin to source panels and parts etc ,when i get all the parts gonna take 4 weeks of work and get stuck into the shell ,and then theres the engine thats gona be a bit special but more of that in the future
the panels started to arrive
replaced the battery tray after cutting the original tray and a naw one that had been welded on top
then i started on the inner and outer sills
and thats it for this now cant do any more till my front floor pan arrives ,oh and more welding wire for the mig
cut old one out........looks scary eh
new floor pan ready to get welded in
front and rear pans welded in
inner sill welded on
starting to take shape now but it takes time ,outer sill is next job and then its onto the inner wings ,front panel, front cross member wings, bah bah bah
inner and outer sills now on
cut the front of today and look what i found more rust :wall: :wft:
been busy again today thought i would fit the front crossmember but that did'nt really go to plan ,found that the bit the crossmember would weld onto was pretty thin so had to rebluid both the mounting points then i thought if i weld this on wrong fook all will line up ,so i got the front anti -rollbar thingy and thought if i bolt this on i cant go wrong
what i did'nt expect was for it to be broken in two
(that will be why it was wraped in gaffa tape )so that will be another thing on the hunt list ...
also cut the old skuttle panel off and started to cut the inner wings back ready for the new ones ,i was going to weld the panels one by one onto the car but decided not to ..
got the drill out and drilled the panels so i could screw them to hold them in place ,this way i could see the panel gaps ,fook me that took hours but definetly better than just weldin them on ,so all thats left is to tack them in place ....................well hopefully !!!!!!
anyone got one of these lying about could'nt beleave it when it fell apart in my hands
long way to go but i feel i'am gettin there now
after near a week of solid welding and grinding the front end is finished ,only the wings to be welded back on ,
the new driver side floor pans and door jab come tomorrow so hopefully i can totaly finish the front end of in the next week or so ,then its onto the rear ,new chassic legs ,boot floor and rear valance
ok done the drivers floor pan and the rear one also fitted inner and outer sills .....

of a job ...
had to do a bit of work on the door post too ,its got 3 layers on it for strengh and the outer one was totaly rotton ,luckly they still make a panel for it ,but it was a nightmare drilling all the spot welds out that hold the outer skin on ,but under that it was sound so it was'nt all bad
