Very nice, would love something similar to put my LET in but you just can't find em for reasonable money. Anybody know of any kit kars with a similiar look? Or even better one that resembles a elise/exige.
Sorry about the thread hijack:D

Lots of people run without covers,i guess its not a issue until something goes in therelmao Ofcourse for something to come through the front it'll have to go straight through the rad first, yeah i guess it could happen but its fairly rare. More likly one day it'll through the alternator belt off and get mangled up in the timing gear:doh:
Why fit an xe lump over a cossie? Xe's are ten a penny these days and rebuilding them is cheap as chips. If comparing the yb against the let then yeah the cossie lump is better> To bring the let up to standard(oil spray)requires a total strip down whcih becomes a costly conversion when you want to get near 350hp,whereas the yb will run that happily on a standard lump and stg 3.

cool, thats right up my street! there are quite a few round here in Mk1 and Mk2 escorts, theres even a RWD XE Mk3 one! Most of them do brean rally and thats the best chance to have a good old poke about, if they wil let you near it!

Most people I see run them without the cambelt cover on in rallys, even gravel ones. My first reaction was the same as yours - why risk it? but Ive never seen one have any problems with it, other than OllyTB at Donnington last year when he spun his MK1 Astra into the gravel trap.

Its not got covers because its a race XE, the front ends moddified and wont take a standard cover!;)

He wanted to build a naturally asperated rally car, and a cossis lump was'nt an option in comparison to the XE for your money! The lumps got 228 bhp at the fly wheel! To get that kind of power out of a naturally asperated cossie lump would cost twice the money.

There's a company that you can take a grotty old mk1/2 to and they cut the front end and floor off and mount it on a spaceframe chassis with GRP panels, keeping the dash, character and id. Cost a few quid but is pretty much a cat/westie type thang with escort looks
