Fresh in from a field above Blagdon Lake. was out for a blast and had the camera. Thought the view was good then I found a field with an open gate. Just a shame it wasnt a clearer day!

Main changes over the last few months have been the 15" Compomotive MO's which I sprayed white. Im very happy with the outcome, I'll be getting them powercoated white when a convienient time comes up. Other that the wheels the Calibra leather was dropped in favour of some ultra comfortable and supportive Escort RS Turbo seats I pilfered from Ganders parts mountain!

I dont really plan to do much more to the car this year apart from one of Robs quickracks in order to save some money in preperation for a full bodywork restoration over winter (If I keep this shell, Im hopefully looking at a motorsport prepped shell next week:D) It'll also get some spanky stitch welding, some more weight redcution, some new suspension and a LET...

All opinoins welcome! (click on the pic for a larger image)

Do you look the part? I think you should invest in a Sparco suit. Just go tecos or what not. Would be class!

I tend to use astra-mk2.com more than MIG these days, its smaller and eaiser to follow things plus it all realtes directly to my car.

TB's arent worth the money they cost. A LET might not be ideal but it wont set me back over 2.5k for 200bhp like tb's. neumerous people now have been dissapointed with the results they have had from throttle bodies. I can fit a LET and if I dont like it whip it out and its worth what I paid for it. Cant do that with a TB setup. The LET will remain pretty standard I would have thought.

odders doesnt know anybody who was dissapointed with the end results of throttle bodies. lots of people fed up breaking XE's, constant mechanical niggles with engines that happen to be fitted with throttle bodies, yes, but then mig isnt exactly shy of "eratic boost" posts or "blue smoke on idle" or "why does piston 3 look like utterly butterly" posts

LET is definately the cheapest way for sustainable power though (pre-empting a nitrous strike)

LOL I certainly dont plan nitrous and I dont plan a high spec massive boost engine. It'll be pretty much standard. The people here with standard LETs seem to have less problems. At the end of they day, this month I thought I qwould be able to put away a couple of hundered quid towards the engine, now Ive just realised Ive got road tax and new tyres to do so saving anything looks pretty unlikley. I cant justify the expecse of TB's.

twin 48 carbs??? They can be pretty cheap too.
48's are too big for an XE without uprating it internally which only pushes the cost up.
