i have a 1990 cav gsi that is rotten and probably isnt worth repairing..ie. quoted £600 for the bodywork to be done..
so ive gone and brought a k reg cav sri 8v facelift model...
i want to know how much work is involved in putting the gsi engine into the sri......the sri has a blown engine anyway so i have to put an engine in it anyway....is it worth putting the gsi engine in or should i just stick another 8v lump in the sri...

any help would be great as im going to be doing it this weekend...

thanks

guy who posts as savage has done this exact conversion in the last few days, engine from cav gsi into mk3 sri.

problems hes encountered are the 16v loom no mating up to the 8v coil, and 8v fuel feed and return pipes not mating to the 16v fuel line.

But thats neither here nor there, you have both cars sitting on your drive, you have everything you need.

Engine goes straight in on the same mounts, just need the 16v engine loom.

maybe send savage a PM, hes usually on late afternoons.
