i don't know much about engines so i was trying to work out what all the bits were. but there are 2 bits i can't work out why they are there. they are:

a hose that goes from the corner of the air filter box to the exhaust manifold heatshield. wtf, what does that do, suck in hot air?! whats the point in that?

and a hose that goes from the cam cover to the intake manifold. whats that for, to suck oil into the cylinders?!

any gen?

engines run smoother and more economical with warm air going in.

the hose from the cam cover to the instake manifold is sucking fumes from the cam cover. most of it is escaped charge from the cylinders, bit of oil vapour too. comes from the crank case, up the front of the engine in that pipe next to the dipstick, then through the cam cover to the inlet.

so i can rip that pipe from the exhaust to the airbox off with no problems? cool.

i was quite pleased with my workings out, apart from these 2 bits.
