How old is the clutch? Sounds like is on the way out

 

pretty old but doesnt slip and bites straight away! would clutch cause difficulty engaging gears if it still bites at bottom? its fine cold just after a good run starts getting bit sticky in gears when hot.

 

check the simple things first mate like clutch cable nd adjust if nescesarynd check gearbox oil level before taking gearbox apart

 

bought the special oil from vauxhall but looks difficult to tip from bottle into the little hole without spilling.also manual says about a plug near driveshaft you have to take out to check oil level,but i cant bloody find it!!! could linkage cause problems and make it grind every time you put into reverse? also the pin and u joints seem bit baggy above box but aint sure how much play there supposed to have!

 

if it bites at the bottom then its not disengaging properly, adjust the cable so the pedal comes up slightly, ive had this issue loads of times and thats the only thing i have found to be the cause.
