You need to use a paperclip in the diagnostics socket for your ECU, but where that is will depend on your vehicle.

its a cav gsi on a j reg.

Hmm, not sure where the plug is on one of those. Might be on the passenger's suspension mount under the bonnet, same as on my astra? Anyway, go on the topbuzz site and search for your engine code in the little table, and that will tell you what the fault codes for your car mean. And how to read them. There's also a nice little diagram showing which pins on the plug you need to bridge with the paperclip. Hope that helps.


Anyone else know where the plug might be on the Cav?

I think the cav's diagnostic plug is in with the fusebox towards the bottom of the dash on the drivers side will either be a 10 or 16 pin connector, pin's a & b need to be bridged with a paper clip to flash the codes up on the engine management light

My local one wants £35 +VAT just to tell me the codes and what they mean!!!!
