Just need a quick and simple answer really.

F20 box onto a Z16LER (Corsa VXR engine), will it just go straight on? The bolt configuration looks the same as all other vauxhall gearbox from a glance.

Why not use the M32 that was fitted to it?

I spent the last 6 months trying to get that to fit. Its a cable linkage box to start off with, with equal length drive shafts, that are 28 spins to the diff and 26 to the hub. No conversion hubs will fit that, and you can't just change the ends of the shafts to the EX ends (which conversion hubs are designed for) are completely different.

The plan was to just splice the shafts half way down, but then I dont know if the standard VXR shafts are the right length, and the gear box mount is a pain in the ass as well, ect ect ect.

So I kinda ran out of money now, and I just need to get the damn thing working.

Right so reading his thread the answer is no I think. He using a custom fly wheel (although not sure whats custom about it) to mount some type of XE Paddle clutch? Is that some sort of uprate clutch? I have no idea.

by getting the custom flywheel he could fit a clutch assembly for the f20(vxr flywheel is not compatible with f20/f28 clutch kits, well thats what i figured out from his post) all the custom flywheel does is allows you to fit a f20/f28 which means you can fit 'off the shelf' conversion parts rather than paying out the a**e for custom parts.

the reason he went down that route is there was too much modification involved with the engine bay and also he binned the fly-by-wire management system for the good old fashioned cable system, which was an easier set-up for the corsa b, as the corsa c is already fly-by-wire, my GUESS is it may be more cost effective fitting the m32 and looking into custom shafts, good luck with the build with whatever you decide buddy :D

Hmm, see I read a topic on VXR online in which 3 people said they wouldn't have any trouble fitting an F20 to a Z16LER? If a Z20LET is anything to go off, I know F20, F23 and F28 go straight onto them, and dont they use semi hydrolic clutches as well?

I have an Omex stand unit to run the engine, so that makes things simpler.

I just dont want to spend time and effort finding this flywheel spending anther £400 on parts that I dont need. If this thing doesn't go straight on then I'm simply going to sell it, put a 1.4 in and sell the car. If you can find a place that does custom shafts and doesn't want £600 quid a side I give you a medal, and even then I'm not sure of the lengths.

if i was you id take the 2 clutches to a clutch specialist ie the f20 and m32 and get them to swap the centres and that should be you if the fly wheel is different use 1 from a x16xe as i think they are the same bolt pattern or try a 2.0 8valve fly wheel re drilled rather than go down the expensive custom route a good enginering shop can do this for you and not that expensive

Thank you sir, this is exactly what I wanted to know!

X16xe being a corsa gsi/ecotek lump in a corsa b?

In terms of taking the to clutches apart, is that something most mechanics could do? I am the amateur here, I run a chain of body shops so I will be drafting the two mechanics I employee to help me out! I'm just trying to find as much info as possible before we start in a weeks time!

Can you supply a flywheel suit for this purpose? I am now on a fairly tight budget but I will bear this in mind.

Just looked at a picture of an Astra VXR flywheel and the bolt pattern looks the same as that custom one matey has on Corsa sport. I think I just need to try it and see.

Yep who do you think made the one for the guy on CS forum! :)

has to be custom to get the correct crank fitting, ring gear alignment and clutch set up height.

no we dont hold much stock of anything cos we cant make it fast enough.. not sure we have any of these not exactly a demand for them. lol but we usually make 2 if we do a special so we may have one sitting on the shelf id have to check.

If not probably best to allow atleast 3 weeks for a special as we are just so busy.

I can assure you if we could have just supplied a flywheel we already made (which is pretty much all vauxhalls) we wouldnt have bothered to design and make a special for him.

I would appracate it you could check to see if you had one around, would make things a lot simpler for me and tbh I probably would just be done with it and buy it off you now.

Like I say chap, PM me your number so I can get hold of you and I will give you a call and place an order. I just want to have a quick chat with my guys first just to make sure we have got everything else (driveshafts, and a F20 for starters!)

Stick with the M32. Mounts, gear linkage and shafts are all available for a straight forward fit.
Where From?! Link/Name/Website/telephone number?

I would really love to stay with it (as long as all of that doesn't cost a bomb)
