Went out late tonight to test the Proxes. The first thing I noticed is that it seems to understeer dreadfully, worse than with the F1's which is a dissapointment, there isn't really any warning either it just goes straight at a round-a-bout when I'm trying to go right.

A bit dishartened I went onto some open road and played with the boost. I found I could let a bit more boost come in in 2nd gear and not get spin, the tyres seemed to grip better, maybe down to the compound, maybe because they are 15's.

I am dissapointed about the handling though, they seem great at gripping but when they do go thats it, they are gone and just slip and slip and you have to back off alot to bring it back.

Will be interesting to see how they behave when you get a few more miles on em.

I was trying to spin them yesterday but they kept gripping :p I'm doing 60ish miles today so that should help.

Dont forget with new tyres there is a lot of tread depth. On cornering, the treads flex and handling performance decreases. The less tread (within reason) on the tyres - the more tight the handling.

I had a mate with a 500bhp Cossie who used to go through a set of tyres every two months. He'd buy a brand new set, take them to a specialist who skimmed the tread off the tyres until they were about a millimeter above the road legal tread. The car was used both on the road and for track events.

Broke my heart seeing all that money go to waste but he swore blindly that it improved the handling considerably.

More money than sense if you ask me !!!

Thats just silly - My tyre profile is 50 so that means the tread its about 100mm thick. Taking 8mm of tread off is not going to 'drastically improve the handling'.

Hopefully I'll wear them in a bit more tonight ;)
