hi there, i have a N reg 1.4 16v sport corsa, my mate has the same but a W reg, with abs, power steering, and air bags, weights 80kg more than mine, but i have longer gears by 500rpm in each gear. we raced the other day and i beat him by quite abit. wondered why???? both have have x14xe's engines.

will his be more restriced than mine? eg. smaller bore on the inlet, outlet??

PAS pump is driven from the crank so is loosing power! Friction etc involved, other than that it is down to weight, driver ability and the standard of the engine!

so your sayin the power stering will make a bit of difference, but not a second difference. Dont forget this is off the lights and in a straight line, it doesnt really matter if you change later than the other person because it will help in the next gear

Has to be down to driver ability! Changing gear at the right time and changing up quickly can make a big difference! Also being used to a car can help!
