when i first got my cav, when i reversed a got a creaking sound, as if the handbrake wasnt disengaged fully

anyway back discs were nacked so i got new discs, pads and shoes and handbrake cable

the car still makes the creaking noise!

any ideas?

sounds like a wheel bearing is knackered or running dry.

only in reverse? it does it no other time, and sounds like its from the back of the car

its not 4x4 no, weve had the car up on a 4 poster, no give on bearings or cv, my mate checked over the full car when i got it, and its been doing it all the time really

Check you rear springs and mounts mate. Fingers crossed for you that it ain't, but it could be a rear spring broken, or the chassis spring mount gone, worse still the chassis rail rotten.

Have a look, see if everything looks ok.

thanks mate

but when we had it up on the ramp the back end has been done before, obviously rotted thru, has all been welded, tho something funny when we had it up was how far the wheels came down! my mate said hes never seen dampers give as much as these things, ill recheck the springs in the morning make sure they are sitting right
