my clutch is knackered i rekcon, some slight slipping when high revs applied, also whining noise when clutch is depressed (bearing???)

any ideas, especially prices for clutch change

could be the bearing. You'll get a new one with the clutch kit.
Mine was £190 LuK part, but you can get them cheaper.

Fitting differs depending on year of your Calibra.
If its < 1993, then it cheaper becasue they can do the work with the F20 gearbox still on the car (flat-type flywheel)

But if its > 1993, then the F20 will have to come off (pot-type flywheel) boosting the labour charges.

My Calibra is smack on the 1993, had the pot-type flywheel so the F20 had to come off. Came to £320 inc £190 clutch and VAT/labour. They done it in 2 hrs (local garage).

if the clutch is shagged it usually slips the most in 4th and 5th gear.

sounds a bit backwards, but it takes less mechanical force to propel a car in 1st gear hence why it dont slip in the lows.
