*waits for Richie* (or someone like that)

iirc between about 30 and 110 the Cav beats the Cossie

they are pretty similar tho - Cossie off the line Cav thru the gears...

What 'Cossie'

Its like saying what would win a Ford or a Cav Turbo

Theres only one Cavalier Turbo but theres about 10 different Cosworths.

The MK5 Escort for instance has more power and is lighter so...

An escort cossie (any model) would lose out to a cav turbo. A sierra, you know a decent red top will win. The RS500 YBD engine will whoop the cav without to much trouble.

The escorts are crap, the old sierras are better.

What?

Escort Cosworth 0-60 is 5.7 seconds, beating the Cavalier Turbo by a convincing 0.7 seconds. BHP is more at 227 and I assume Torque is more too.

The Cavalier will scrape through at the end as the Escort (with its 5 gears) tops out at 144mph but up to 100mph the Escort should pull a good few lengths ahead.

The Sierra Cosworth 2WD has the same BHP (204) a 0-60 of 6.1 making it a litle quicker and a top speed of 150mph so its pretty even with the Cavalier Turbo.

Ok I should have worded that one better. The escort is slower top end wise than a cav.

But the cav beats it to 140mph anyway due to superior aerodynamics.

The YBT (blue top and T35 turbo) and the YBP (silver top and T25 turbo) were rated at 227bhp and despite the not to shabby power output have the aerodynamics of a house. Even the late single spoiler ones have crap drag coefficients.

The sierras are the better cras unless you like rallying. the RS500 will happily sit at 150 all day long though.

I miss it.

I've had this conversation with a Calibra owner in the past ;)

The Aerodynamics of the Calibra means it will beat me to top end. Do I care? :p I'm sure the Escort owners can live with beating the Cavalier on everything other than 1 miles straights ;)

lol! Fair point.

Still rather have a cally over an escort but a sierra over the cally.

The one with the better driver....

Example - Take 1 250BHP Cally Turbo vs 1 450BHP Sierra Cosworth and put them on GoodWood racetrack.

The calibra consistently lapped the circuit faster than the sierra.....

As for standard form - Couldnt give a toss about book figures.....The cars are so close (really, they are) that no perceptible difference will be seen. Any difference between these is mostly down to the driver....

I wouldn't own an Escort or Sierra be it Cosworth or not YUK! lmao

Everyone has to agree the the Cavalier Turbo is a much nicer looking car than a Sierra Cosworth?
