Hello All,

My mate fitted an 2l 16v engine (not red top) into his calibra. But he has the engine management light on (whilst the car is running) oil light stays on and the water light is on.

He filled the water and oil to the level in the haynes manual. But doesn't know why the lights stay on.

Any ideas....

Cheers

sounds like the car the engine came out of had check control and his car hasn't

can't explain why the eml is on though, does it run and drive ok?

When the car was started it had a ot of white smoke out the back. but we haven't put it on the road yet because of this light.

the eml will be on for any one of a number of reasons

idle air control valve
air flow meter
camshaft sensor
crankshaft sensor
cat sensor
ignition coil (dis pack)
exhaust gas recirculation valve

if all these parts were taken off the original engine and put on the new then the eml will still be on.

you need to have the ecu read by a diagnostics machine, preferably at a vx dealer and have the codes cleared and checked for whatever is at fault

I will tell him to go to vauxhall's. Last time he did he dislocated his shoulder pushing the car there. As it went down the ramp and he tried to jumped through the window and pull up the hand brake.

Cheers for help mate. When he gets told what it is, I will let everyone know.
