Got 2010 1.7 cdti astravan sportive, box squealing, and clutch pedal hight, due to pick up a rebuilt box next week, am gunna get dual mass and cut h kit also, hurd subframe needs to come out to carry this job out, was wondering if its easier just taking the engine and box out together through the front with a engine crane, whilst there I'll do oil pump,timing belt and water pump, also seems to be loosing water, 1ltr every 2 weeks, I suspected head gasket but shows no signs of gunge in oil cap or any pressure after a long drive in water take? Can anyone tell me any tips before I start pulling it apart? Also whilst it is out Is it worth doing head gasket whilst out?

Some coolants are fluorescent under UV light, might be worth picking up a cheap UV torch and checking for signs of leakage? It has to either be an internal, or external, leak - pin-hole damage to the radiator, a weeping water pump, or a weeping hose clamp, are other common problems.
