I've got a MK3 astra with the multi-display above the head unit
(shows time/date+radio station/temp). just installed a new headunit (JVC MD/CD combo... VERY NICE!) and obviously the date display is turned off when headunit is on (no radio station info). can someone let me know which wires to cut/clip/generally bodge on the display unnit so the date is on all the time?????

Well, if it's like the Vectra, locate the grey/red stripe wire at the back of the stereo and check to see if it goes to 12v when you switch the stereo on.
If so, then just like the Vectra, cut it to keep the date all the time.

Cut the wire at the display end so that the electric ariel / ariel amp continues to work

I did this recently and found that I could pull the metal connection out of the multiplug on the back of the Multi Function Display, hence not needing to cut anything. Also makes it easier for putting back to standard later (If you ever need to).
