the top centre console screen in my astra g is all garbled with broken text, and the date at the bottom section, flicks in and out of life.
can anything be done to fix these, or does the unit need replacing ?

The ribbon cable connector inside is the issue, they can be fixed but I don't have the info (wish I did). There a few online companies that can fix it.

cheers mate. i guess ill just have to take it apart, and inspect the connections. make sure theres no corrosion on the ribbons/connectors, or sketchy looking solder on the board, or frail wires.

it wouldnt be anything to do with the stereo, would it ?
i know these screens communicate with the stereo, and it has an aftermarket sony unit fitted.
i suppose i could unplug the stereo, to test that theory.
the 2 stalk switches, and the steering wheel buttons too, are linked.

hopefully theres not a big bowl of spaghetti wires, behind the stereo. we'el see
