Right got me a set of these things

a) what socket/tool do I need to do em up as they are quite a bit different to the standard one lol

b) what should i soak them in as a 'cleaning solvent'

c) how difficult is it to counter sink the conrods? or would i be better off paying an engine place to countersink em for me...?

any thing else to watch out for when fitting them?

Countersinking is a peice of cake. Just get a decent countersink from B&Q and the likes. You only need to countersink about 1mm down anyway. I think I remember someone even doing it with a hand drill!

Are they SBD bolts or ARP bolts. I'm sure you dont have to countersink ARP just SBD ones.??

er... SBD sell ARP bolts.

use a 14mm socket, it'll fit perfectly.

:)

you'll find it fits perfectly.

It's also worth replacing the maincap bolts if it's a bottom end rebuild, as SBD sell replacement cap head bolts for £6 per set!

The SBD bolts for the mains come with allen head type bolts and i was a bit unsure of using them but then i thought about it and them and there customers have probably rebuilt a few more XE's than me so they shud be fine!. Rick

Arn't these ARP bolts also done up + angles too?
So the 14mm socket would fine for this (ie not round off etc).
What toque setting are they as well?

torque only, no angles. They aren't stretch bolts.
