Right,

I've been blabbering on for some time now of dropping a bigger engine in (1.6 16v), strapping a turbo onto the block or lashing some throttlebodies on.

The situation, I'm just about 20, with no NCB, 1 years when september finally arrives.

The engine currently sitting in my chariot is a 1.4 mpi (not the original and I'm shafted if I crash and its inspected).
The reason I didn't delare it is due to a distinct lack of funds when the other engine blew up.

Looking at all these sparkly engine/power posts is making me yearn, I'm having the cars 'image' sorted very soon.

So, I'll get on with my point.

I've decided initially I'm going to have a bash at rebuilding a block of the same type, the internals will be uprated to achieve decent gains.

Could you lot advice me on what can be done with an engine of this type, I must stress that any changes will be purely internal + a decent manifold.

Can't be getting an Tb's just yet

If you have the time and you will need lots of it you could have a go at blueprinting it and a bit of headwork.

Instant power due to higher efficiency (and longerlife), might have trouble getting the ideal dimensions unless a Vaux dealer likes you or you steal the engine book from em.

Some engines get more gains than others, some you might get 5bhp others you may get 20.

Right, mods tjhat will improve the go but not be obvious are:
gas flowed head
bigger valves
fast road cam shaft or similar
lightened flywheel
lower final drive ratio

though bigger capacity is going to be the cheapest way for more go.

well it's all going to cost though.
On a budget your best idea is to look into best head/block combinations.

If you are not on a budget,whats wrong with a C20XE?
That does not make sense,i cant afford insurance but im not on a budget.
With no NCB and a ban under his belt,my mate was only charged an extra £200 for fitting a C20XE to his corsa gsi,as long as he had uprated the brakes and suspension.
Im thinking of putting a 2ltr 8v in my corsa gsi as i have an engine from an astra gte 8v in the garage.
Have you actually rang up and checked about insurance?
It may not be as bad as you think,try all the specialist companys in the back of total vauxhall,its the normal companys that sting you!!
