Took a trip to Glenrothes (Fife, Scotland for you englanders!) yesterday to a rolling road event organised by some Evo owners.
Quite a collection of cars there, Evo 5's, 6's, 7's, couple of Skylines (R33 and R34), several scooby's, an Escort cossie running a engine dyno'ed 512bhp, and an Audi RS6.

Managed to get a passenger ride in the RS6. Luuuuuuverly machine.

Turns out they had booked the local airfield for some afternoon fun, and there was a space available....
So, me in my 10yr old, couple of £k worth clapped out Vauxhall, and maybe 30 other cars worth £30k+. The RS6 just cost it's owner £62k.....
Bet they thought "WTF is that plonker doing".
I did.

So, 1/4 mile is properly measured out, and the first 2 Evo's have a go. Cue the smell of burning rubber and clutches.....
Fast and Furious style starts, no timing gear, but plenty of competition

For my 1st run I line up against the owner of Star Performance, Jim Curley. Jim just happens to have a 330bhp Evo VI.
I managed to get a good launch, pulled out a car length and held it all the way to the end :D
People started to take notice :p
Went up against him another couple of times. He wasn't impressed at being beaten lmao
Finished 2-1 to him. Funniest run was when I accidentally ran in 2wd

Had maybe 15 or so runs, against all sorts.
Left standard Evo V's and VI's comfortably, beat all of the scoobys who tried but had a damn good close race with a 300bhp Scooby sti, managed to stay in front by a nose all the way :)

Then the Skyline R34 rolled up beside me
To my surprise, got away from him and held it until maybe the end of 2nd gear. Then he blasted past like I was standing still
Turns out it was running 600+bhp and htting terminal speeds in the 130's!!

A few casualties throughout the afternoon, several scoobys, the cossie had a slight problem, and I think two Evo gearboxes were lunched....

Happy to say my 160k miles motor cruised home as normal.
Who says the Vauxhall 4wd system is crap and fragile?
I was getting launches that were showing most of them the way...........and this on a standard clutch.
Don't know how its still hanging in there.

Wanted to add; not gonna comment on that other thread slagging off certain C20LET tuning kits, but guess which kit my car runs?!

I love it, nothing more fun than surprising people in a boring old Vauxhall. So MIG isn't so stupid after all!

Phase 3.5. Plenty more top end than phase 3.
Car ran phase 3 for nearly two years, then phase 3.5 for the last few months.

Nah, was very low key.

any amusing/annoyed comments from other owners??
Jim's (Star Performance) face was a picture the first time I beat him, ask Gav! lmao
Rest of them didn't know what to say I think.
Nice folks generally though.
One guy was very complimentary (after I wasted his Evo V :D )

Yeah, noticed they didn't take any photos of me ahead on the strip either :p

Did get a mention on scoobynet though, by one of the Evo guys I beat.

Understandably most have been pretty quiet about being beating by a 10 year old banger lmao

Ian, you would've loved it.
Rob, like I said to you, when your car is sorted, there is nothing you need to fear (except maybe the odd R34!)
