HI

I have been talking to a company "BlueChip Performance" about custom s/s tubualar manifolds and turbo's, they have advised using a t3 turbo and have apparently got a LET running with 480BHP. I was under the impression that a T3 turbo would not give this kind of perfomance and would only be good for around 350bhp???? Anyone??

a T3 like the cossie item is reaching its limits around 300bhp

a T34 (ie big turbo escos) will probably manage a bit more (perhaps 350-400bhp?) but for 480bhp your really gonna need something like a GT35

mmmm, thats exatly what I thought, but they seem sure this is what they are using obviously it a hybrid unit, larger compressor wheel etc.
There work looks very good, from the pics that I have seen so its seems genuine and the chap seemed to know what he was talking about.....

ok, I really want to achieve 400+ and was looking closely at the GT28R or GT30R, will these be upto the job?

forgive me ignorance, but how do I work out whioch size exhaust housing i need?

mainly knowledge and experience...........

It gets a little complicated - I understand some of it, but not enough to tell you lmao

It's partly to do with lag (larger the AR the more lag usually) but then u have boost thresholds and then the fact that the larger the ratio the more gases can get in and spin the wheel faster and so push more air through etc...etc...etc.....

ok thanks for the info, Robbie S manifolds and downpipes look exceptional, any comments / worth the money??

Im still waiting for my Robbie manifold, but mine is a specialist one not the normal stuff he does, it all seems good from what ive seen of it though.

400bhp on a GT28RS isnt likely to happen.

480bhp on a T3, clearly they have got a CLUE what they are talking about.

A t3 is so far off its map trying to make 350bhp that frankly i would classify it as unsafe to your engine to do.

If you want to read a REALLY good article on boost maps and choosing a turbo then get next months Fast Ford magazine, out in 4 weeks, ive just proof read the draft for a 6 page article Stu has written on the subject and its VERY good indeed.

Buy this months one as well mate, in fact get a subscription!

This month Stu covers why big turbos make more power than small turbos for the same boost pressure.

He has a regular corner in the mag now, 6 pages EVERY month of the best technical advice you will find anywhere!



Or just read that article in the news agents every month ;)
