Totally and utterly non-Vauxhall, but some of you might be interested. Spent the weekend at the 'Pod for Big Bang, I was planning on leaving Sunday night or Monday morning and make my way down the road for the Speed Show at Shakespeare but I got hugely drunk on Saturday night, so carried on drinking through Sunday and well in to the early hours of Monday then sobered up in time to leave. The weekend was spent watching a fair amount of 11, 12, and 13 second Bugs tearing it up on the strip and enjoying the night time 'entertainment' ;)

An unfortunate set of events put play to my Speed Show plans... My oil breather setup lost a mounting screw and one end dropped, pouring oily water and crap in to the alternator, not a problem - But the hose that dropped off in the process dumping mayonaise crap all over the engine bay was. Next up, my top pulley shattered around the middle at *ahem* decent speed making the remaining part of the pulley bind on the alternator housing which just made the belt slip and stop the fan from working. Coupled with a now defunct oil pressure ventilation/breather setup made me overheat and literally rocket the oil filler cap off in to my right air filter, shooting it out through the gap in my stand off decklid along the M3 lmao

That aside, it was probably the best weekend of my life... VW events are all sorts of awesome. Top quality live music and class DJ's, cool people and zero chav factor. I wasn't in any fit state to be taking pics all weekend so this is about as good as it gets...

First up... It wouldn't be a Pod trip without Bell End!

Fell in love with this.

And this... Twin turbo Scooby lumped bug. 0-60 in 3 seconds and the quarter in 11. Love it.

Dude's Beetle... Sounds mental.

Roof chops for the win.

Something to think about... Porsche lump camper with full camping interior. Does wheelies and the 1/4 in 14 seconds.

One soiled ones undergarments at the sound of this.

I LOVED this.

More Scoobug.

Nice Splitty.

And another.

Evo got wasted by a camper if I remember correctly. Didn't see it again lmao

Nice and mean.

I just love the shine you get on black cars.

This sounded ace...

Lovely Karmann Ghia.

4x4 Golf was mental quick.

Even the most mild of Bugs...

...Have a bit of bite.

Another 4x4 Golf.

More black porn.

Golf came out for another run...

And done a proper job of it.

Rocket Ronnie and his Jet Bug.

Flamin' 1966 Splitty

I dig the rat look.

Surprisingly awesome.

Pass the tissues!

Resto Wagen line at the Show & Shine.

AWESOME old skool Porka.

The Volksworld Magazine Frid.

And the offending pulley...

That'll be a swamp cooler - "Device that produces cold air in hot, dry weather by drawing hot air over a wet cooling pad, either by air movement or via a fan."

Cheers dudes... Gav, I remember seeing your Bug in a post a while back, had a cherry bomb exhaust did it not? My old Bug had one and it was mental, could hear it way before you saw it and it cracked and popped like nothing else lmao

Matt - lmao lmao lmao The state of some of the cars was mad, some really nice rat lookers kicking about. Went looking or the Golf to get a spec on it but couldn't find it, it was driven with absolute fury though, thought he was going to rip the gear stick off lmao

Add - There were loads of Dubs broken down everywhere yesterday, first thing the RAC said was "You've been to Big Bang like the rest then?" lmao

Loads of vids to sort through, but I'm too majorly 'Podified' to do anything  lmao

Alreet Dan....

Was a good weekend, didn't know you were going other wise I'd have come over and said hello.

I am just recovering, had to take a day off work today...lmao lmao 'podified'

I bought a camper to go down in as I was sick of slinging a tent up and down, it's the way forward dude...I'll be at all the VX shows in it this summer.

You might have seen it, actually you could hardly miss it...lmao

Did you go over to Stanford Hall on Sunday? What an awesome display of VeeDubs there were, I spent far too much on import "rust free" parts for the Camper resto..here it is next to "the gayest T25 in the village" lmao

Are you off to BugJam dude?

Was a bloody good weekend indeed, my first Dub show and it was 100% awesome. Be a shame if it is the last Big Bang :( Was very last minute as to whether I was going or not, ended up deciding to go at 6am Saturday morning by myself since my mates said, and I quote, "I'm not spending a weekend in a field full of hippies and **** old cars" Not to worry though, met so many people there that it didn't really matter.

How podified (Perfect word for it) are you then? My face is burning, I've got burger and beer gut, my legs feel like they're going to fall off and my feet are still numb. Now I know why everyone takes bikes, fook walking half a mile or more from the camping to the trade stands and music tent!

Did spot your camper, was parked just up from me I think, bloody nice and makes perfect sense for shows - The amount of ghetto-painted splits and bays got me thinking... I'm on the lookout for one now! Mostly wanting one though because of the couple of birds that said we could have 'fun' if I had a tent or a camper... Kicked myself that I decided to sleep in the car  lmao I forgot about Stanford and was still out of it from the night before so gave it a miss, wish I got a lift up there now.

I'm looking for a new job now, the days/hours I work at the moment mean that Run To The Sun's probably the only Dub show I can do and that's just not cricket... I need to do them all!

I got some awesome ideas for the camper there, some of the interiors that I saw ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous.....we all ended up right at the top past the funfair with a couple of mates from Ireland in their Techno buses....electric gadgets everywhere, sound systems to die for and heat, loads of it from the Eberspacher heater.

I am still a bit spaced out...kind of looking at the world through some smoked glass at the moment lmao Could be a combination of all the things you said actually.

I had some right fun on the way home overtaking a coachload of old biddies on the M1, with a spongebob squarepants shower radio in one hand whilst dancing to canned heat doing 70mph..... you just can't get away with that in anything but a camper with flowers on it  lmao

 Don't suppose one of them was a Bay with a desk of some sorts where the drivers seat would be with a TV on it? That's about all I can remember, stumbled in to it at about 2am on Sunday and thought "Is that... No it can't be... Oh that's cool!" lmao The best interior I saw was a really ratty Samba in the day parking area, the whole rear end of it was stripped and just covered in what looked to be 4" long fur lmao

Trip home was just as much fun too aye, I was in a convoy with a crew cab that had every seat filled, and someone strapped in the back with a ratchet strap belting music out... Mad times, really good cruise back with the windows down... Smile didn't even leave my face when the Bug let go, still hasn't gone now actually :)
