Hi,

Have just sourced a 2.0 8v flywheel (thanks Mark T).

Now I need to find a suitable clutch.

Looking on eBay, there are lots available for 1.8 8v Cav's and Astra's running F16 boxes (as I will) at the £20 mark (beauty!).

Are these massivly different to the 2.0 8v clutch? Or, can I use one with out worry?

(FYI, I am running a C16XE, with F16. The engine will be tuned to 'around' 150bhp - suggesting that if the clutch differs, a 2.0 item will be best)

Otherwise, can anyone suggest a cheap clutch supplier?

Thanks,

Phil

2.0 8V runs 216mm clutch (same as Ecotec).

big block 1.6s and 1.8s do too AFAIK.

You could get the face machined out and run a 228mm 20XE clutch if you wanted to.

Is this just a case of machining out each bolt hole 5mm closer to the flywheel edge?

XE clutch kits seem to be easily available.

nah.

the contact face is about 220mm across on the 8V flywheel.

It needs putting on a lathe and facing out to about 230mm to take the 228mm clutch,

1.6 and 1.8 8v clutches are smaller than the 2 litre one. go for the 2 litre one to start with. will happily take about 160bhp all day
