Popped my new engine in during the week.

I cranked it over on the starter to build oil pressure, got 3 bar then proceeded to start it. Took it for a 20 mile trip, got back checked it all over, no oil leaks, fine.

Next day I go to start it... no oil pressure. So i disconnected the ECU stuff and must have been cranking for 10 minutes, still no pressure.

I get about 0.5bar pressure cranking it over but as soon as it starts its down to 0 again.

I've checked the pressure relief valve and it seems ok.

What else could it be?

Pump is about 1 year old, done 2000 miles.

A problem with the pick up pipe is about the least serious thing i can think of, apart from the pressure relief valve

Ive had the oil pump off and checked made sure the relief valve is free to move so Im fairly sure thats ok now.

I did manage to get pressure at one stage, 4 bar on startup, went for a 10 miles drive, when i got back the level had dropped to 1 bar which seems too low to me. If I leave the engine for 30 mins then try to start it again, no oil pressure.

I'll check today if the pickup pipe is too close to the bottom of the sump.
