I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
i took down me dan kay and gemma and jack turned up! the point is we have a meet at the darly on a34 10 miles away once a month just the normal crew some on holiday some working hence i wanted to meet up further south to see new faces and so on! and np other people turned up! but said they would.
just takes the piss
astra sport.............
Can you now see why people don't bother aranging meets every week?
For the love of God, please read the rules
i couldnt do every week tho! the west mids use to be brill over 20 car turn out!
astra sport.............
Getting people to do anything they say they will is always hard, but making the meet some where in the middle of every one does help.
Having alot of the meets set up off this site tho hasn't helped over the years.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
But by the same token, this particular meet was arranged on site. There were a list of people that were going to turn up (or try to turn up) and didn't for whatever reason. It just makes you wonder why you bother. It's not so much of an issue for me, as it was only half an hour down the road. But having members travelling from Stoke especially to a meet a bit further south to accomodate members that don't even turn up is a bit disappointing.
On a more personal note, it was good seeing Stumpy and Dan and Gemma and Kay, and I was pretty grateful of an excuse to get out of the house.![]()
Teeth? LUXURY! When I was a child we ate by putting rocks in our mouth and jumping up and down.
sorry had a christening yesterday
with everyone bitching, no wonder the weekly meetings are rubbish turn outs, doesnt help that half the ppl that turn up, arrive in non vaux's, but this is why i wont come to them, i drive an alfa
how about giving ppl a reason to go, like doing a photoshoot, or a 'vauxhall carboot', or... speak to other vauxhall clubs, and invite them to the regional meetings, hosted of course by migweb, that way, you may win back members, and turn outs will get bigger...
as for location, its all good saying have the meetings in stone, but what about the ppl from redditch? how is it fair that 1 person only has to travel 1 mile yet someone else has to travel the whole length of the midlands? if its smack bang in the middle of the midlands, nobody can winge like a little girl...

Can't help feel that was directed at me, if so I chose the location to accomodate several reasons, firstly it's a nice place secondly it's slap bang next to virtually every motorway passing through the mids so easily accesable and thirdly with the bitching about having to travel to Stone this seemed like a half decent solution but now we've ended up having people bitch about having to travel here.
this is why I stated when taking up this role that I wasn't p for arranging regular meets and would only focus on trying to get a better turnout for shows, I rarely drive a vauxhall and I'm stupidly busy, my other half had an appointment at 1 yesterday which she was supposed to be back just after 2 which never happened so I was pretty much stranded.
if anyone thinks they can do a better job with respect to meets by all means put your name forward, as for being a member to do so I really don't agree to that.
my post wasnt directed to anyone, its an open point of view to the regoin, from experiance, its not the regional rep/events organiser that makes the event/meeting what it is - its the members, the ppl that attend that make it a good turn out, and im speaking from experiance from running my own club, were i have an events team, other staff, and ive been in numourous mags, as well as tv, radio and newspapers
pick a location and a set date, like the last sunday of every month, and stick to it, if ppl say they are going to turn up and dont, thats their problem, they lose out, simples

Thats what I keep saying, Have a monthly meet.... It will get better as time goes on, as long as one person holds it together. Then have a bi-yearly meet, with other clubs or a regional event like go-karting etc etc
This region is massive and could be great with some direction under it's belt!
True, but i mean over the years.
Our meets has always been at the same time in the same place. So even if you haven't been in 3years you know where and when.. Just helps as its simple.
Gaz, i think what you do is good, as your trying and that the main point. Rustling up members isn't easy. Now with more model based clubs and such.
Tazzy, yes doing more than just a meet is a great way of getting a bigger turn out.

Why does it matter what car we are in when we turn up? I currently drive an evo but dosn't stop me liking vauxhalls, in fact the evo will be up for sale soon and probally replaced by a corsa turbo.
As I said to stumpy I still enjoyed going for a run out was just a shame people didn't turn up what ever reason, I will hapily travel to where ever for the meets but when we get a far better turn out in stone it does seam pointless.
So when and wheres the next one?
Doesn't matter about car in my eyes.

Nope, the last BMW E36 meet I went to had one E28 and six E46's amongst the E36's lmao
i wasnt saying anything about other cars being at the vauxhall meetings, but surely there should be more vauxs than other marquess at a vuaxhall meeting??
im here because my garaged show car (for 2 yrs) is a vaux, my everyday car is an alfa, nor am i saying anyone is doing a bad job, but it just might be worth looking into ideas, locations, events, etc, so keep these meetings fresh
another reason why i havnt been to a meeting yet, is because id feel unwelcome, im a newish members compared to some, i also dont drive a vaux, also, im not a registered member

Yes we want most Gm than anything else, but there are a few members that has lost their way.. Cant shun them.
Meets are open to everyone. You'll be a noob till you meet a few people and get to know everyone. The best way to do that.. Is go to a meet...
Take the Corsa.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
unfortunately the corsa is no where near completion, itll turn heads when its done, in the mean time, the alfa is now up for sale, and today ive just bought a cheap run around till i buy the car i want next
its a 1.4 8v mk3 5-door maroon astra, lol, not exactly stylish, fast or cool, but itll do to get me to and from work and to dothe weekly shop, and my little girl can get in the car better, lol
anyway, back on topic, lets sort these meetings out so they improve for everyone
