clarke are ok m8 should do you fine the ones at work are hooj and v expensive which i normaly use

i used gasless to do my engine mount! id say get a gas one! using the gasless one is more like arc welding! you get alot more spatter and it kept feeling like it wanted to undercut on even the lowest settings!
+ the fact that gas is cheap aswell! deffo get the gas aplication! there bout £120 iirr?
and get a light reactive helmet as they make things 100times easyer!

iv got a SIP 150DP turbo but only got it cuz i can get them cheapish

does gas/gasless and i find the gasless more useful as i cant weld in the garage. if you weld outside the gas gets blown away with the slightest bit of wind.

find it harder to get the gasless right but once u do its much easier. and dont forget to reverse polarity of welder if you use gasless.

Well ive got a SIP gassless mig and found it to work very well as long as you used good quality flux cored wire, had a very good earth and used anti-splatter spray..
everybody slags em off but i found if it dont work right ive not got those three things right.
good for outside in the wind

I also find my SIP gasless welder very good.. especially outside in the wind!

Not welded with gas yet, i'm starting to get the hang of the gasless pretty well though.

my SIP 130amp gas and gasless welder cost me £170 new.

you can get a SIP combined gassless and gas for about 170.
wouldnt that be better if your spending that much money on one ?

TBH if you are just going to be doing car work then a 150 amp is a bit on the powerful side, 100 amps is enough, 130 amp is more than enough.

Screwfix direct http://www.screwfix.com do helmets that flip up for a tenner, clamps, anti-spatter spray etc.

yea but light reactive helmets are soooooo much better! who want to position the gun in a tight space then have to flip down a lid..not me! they make welding 100% easyer.. spesh in spaces like engine bays! and at the end of the day whats £100 you will use it time and time again!
