Re: To primer or not! that is the question

So I decided that as it is going to be a racing/teack day car, no point making it heavy with the primer

So followed the gun setup guides from here and proceeded to paint the bay.

Put the first coat on ( flash and a full) and then waited 24hrs for it to dry. Sanded down with 600grit, and then put another full wet coat on. Agian 24hrs later put a 3rd layer of full wet on.

However, the finish is not smooth and feels like a sandpaper. What is the next step?

I am going to do the same to the rest of the car for now and put 3 coats on. And then put a final coat( 4th) on. But do I sand down before the 4th coat and then put the last coat on. Or do I still need to sand/T cut after the finial cut to get the smooth feeling ?

What do people normally do after the final coat?

    Thanks

Hope you're using proper masks and ventilation etc. 2k is brutal on the lungs. Can cause all sorts of health problems.

Well, i am sure I have already caught lots of diseases from idiots around who smoke in your face and also driving behind lorries dumping black smoke in your face and ... need I go on

If I was a painter by trade, then yeah, fair enough. But painting one car and in the open air, I will take the risk
