Question A question on painting & prepping please..

Hi everyone right got miself a little problem i hope someone can help me out with,i own a 2003 Ford ka,when i bought it it had blistering paint and a little rust around the fuel filler flap so i got the dremel out and ground it all away, rubbed down with sandpaper, cleaned, treated with kurust,my problem is now i've rubbed down the area with 1200 wet n dry so the area is now smooth ready to be primed i'm thinking that when i apply the primer to the surface the primer won't stick cos the surface is too smooth, does anyone know what grade of sandpaper i need to use on the area before i apply the primer,i want it to stick so it covers the areas i've rubbed down, any help much appreciated.

180 grit before primer. Flat primer off with 320 then 800(wet).
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.

cheers for the reply fella the primer is now on and it stayed on so thats good, just waiting for it to dry now, just wanna know though can you spray a colour on top of laquer or does the laquer need to come off first?,i'm thinking the area i've repaired and gonna spray might look a shade different to the original,i'm spraying from a tin and its moondust silver,i thought about doing the whole panel rather than having it 2 shades of moondust silver but would i need to take the laquer off first?,if so then what do you recommend is the right size sandpaper for that?
