Chip says..Bunch of jokers the lot of them, wouldnt know a good map if you stuffed an AA road atlas of great britain up their arse and set fire to it..
Possible but to do it properly very expensive and if you're using some heavy duty machinery then even more expensive.
The easiest way to get from single phase to three phase is by using a three phase motor, connecting one phase to the single phase supply then starting it with another small single phase motor - you will then get all three phases from the motor which you can use to drive three phase equipment.
I can't remember if it will give you the 240v or higher voltages in three phase though.
Have a read through here - it gives you some good info :
Building a Three Phase Converter
You can get 240v to 415v inverters but for large ones they are very expensive - for every 10 amps you need on 415 volt, you'll typically draw around 25-30 amps on the 240v line.
Generally its easier and cheaper to buy the single phase equipment or swap three phase motors for single phase ones.

Try this website for some info www.powercapacitors.co.uk I used to use them when I worked for a generator company a few years ago.
What are you planning to power?

or you could also run a single phase motor driving a 3 phase generator, the driving motor rating should be slightly more than the 3 phase generator output power required. though this will mean a slight inefficiency through losses due to friction and losses to air gaps in the armature/rotors.

Just to bump an oldish thread. I got sorted with this..
Had to learn a bit about elecwizardry but got it up and running eventually the only issue I had was the torque dropping off but long nights of reading and goggle etc I managed to program it correctly.
OOoooh three phase again.
Thanks for the tips/help chaps.
