Re: Astra van floor mods for seats

i have done 9 rear seat conversions in mk3 + mk4 vans now.
    tools you need -
    big hammer
    wide chisel
    crowbar
    centre punch
    drill
    3inch angle grinder

    parts you need-
rear seat bottoms and up rights
from the donor car chop the brackets the uprights click into, the brackets on the front of the seat base, and the outer pivots

rip all the plastic out of he back of your van and remove your front seats too.
youll see a spot welded/ sealed joint. start geting your chisel under the edge and prising it up
when you get to a spot weld i tend to just smash the chisel through it and break the weld without damaging the floor.
keep going round the edge of this panel seperating it from the shell.
there is a wiring loom that runs to the fuel tank and you shoudl be able to work out which bits of the floor to slice soyou dont have to disconnect the loom.
here is a verticle support brace runningner the middle of the false flrfrm front to back. this is only stuck down with sealer so a whack with the hammer and a bit of chiselling shoudl free it.
the hardest parts are the sides. trying to seperate these two peices of flimsy metal is not easy.
i used to spend ages but i figured it was easier and quicker just to bang the chisel down before the joint and fold flat what gets left behind.
by this point you will either give up and let someone else do it, or have an idea of what you are doing and be able to get it out of the van.
rigth sonow you need to start putting your seats in and seeing where they line up.
put the base in first, this fits perfect and will stay still pretty much to allow you to line the rest of it up.
the side brackets where they want to sit. either weld or nut and bolt them in place
same for the brackets that the verticles clip into.

if you want seatbelts(not required as there are no windows) then get the van onto ramps or axle stands and find what looks like a round nut welded up the the floor from underneath and send your centre punch through it, this may also line up with your mounting points for the brakets inside so actually do this before welding anything down inside.

thats about it, like i said, if you are having a go at it yourself then hopefully you arnt a complete ****nut and will be able to work it out for yourself as you go along.
heres a few usless pics i had on my FB:
