    Durafix Alloy Welding

    I am wanting to fabricate some brackets from alloy and am considereing these
    Durafix Easyweld Aluminium Welding

    They certainly look good but has anyone had any experience of using them

    Yeah they work quite well for what they are. I wouldn't be using it for anything structural but they do work well for patching. You need an oxy acetylene kit for it really though the heat needs to be localised to the area you want to braze or the rod will spread everythere

    Its nothing Structural but I dont have Oxy was planning on using mapp gas from the local Plumbers merchants I will give it a go anyway and let you know

    It will work with mapp gas but you need to turn it right up, try to keep the heat as local as possible.
    It's probably going to look messy as funk though

    have used this stuff myself, with mapp gas, and its actually really good, more like solder than anything else, so a little bit fiddly to get it looking nice, but it seems very strong for its application once cooled

    Would this stuff be ok for filling in alloys where they've got the odd guage in? I take it these rods will be ok powder coated?

    I'd use chemical metal for alloys, done some 18s with it myself recently
