Question Rusty / Slightly Pitted Roof - Dodgy Sill Replacement

Hi there, I've just bought myself a mk1 Nova shell, it needs a fair bit of work before it will see the road and I got a few questions regarding painting and sorting the sills.

Firstly about a 1/4 of the roof has been taken back to bear metal, this was done about a year ago so is pretty rusty and very slightly pitted in some places.

My plan to sort this is using zinc primer; etch (acid #8) primer and finally top coat after rubbing the rest back to bear metal.

Is it worth using kurust before the zinc primer and is the paint ‘system’ I'm using correct?

Will put some pics up shortly and also for the sills any help for these would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Duncan

Bare metal it again, get all the rust off you can, try a rust killer on it, then etch and such, high build primer will fill in the pitting.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.

Thanks Benn. Whats your view on the zinc primer? Dont bother with it, just straight on with the etch primer after bear metal and kurust or the likes of??

Here's a pic of the sill, its been overlapped with a new one. Should I cut it off and start again or carry on with butchery?? if I was to cut it of and start again, and with any other panels, should there be and overlap??

not sure if this pic is gonna work,
