inner arches work - am i doing it wrong?
    hi everybody

So this month I got a set of nice and wide borbets, put them on my astra mk3 hatch, and they rubbed on the inside arch when I went over any medium size potholes..

at first I gently modded them with a rubber hammer, but after noticing that it made almost no difference I went a bit nuts with the grinder and did this..

so it doesnt look much good i knowlmao but now i plan strip it to bare metal then weld the slices to the outside arch and fill the spaces with weld as much as possible.
after the metalwork is done i will primer it and then seal everything

am I doing it wrong? i know that most projects people weld new sections of metal to make bigger inner arches, but i dont intend to be so much agressive

Is it not rubbing on the outer lip too? Youve been a little ott, id have tried pushing out out a bit with a bottle jack and some wood first.
