    cutting pipe with angle grinder

i intend on replacing some of my exhaust! instead of making a whole system like last time!

thing is i only have a hack saw or angle grinder but how can i get the cuts straight? its so much easier to weld and obviously better fit..

    im cutting 3" stainless pipe

Re: cutting pipe with angle grinder

i haven't got a band saw or mitre saw etc

grinder will have to do!! i will just use the method im doing.. its straight enough, plus i can fill slightly bigger gaps with the weld.

any more ideas or anyone selling a saw let us know

Don't try and go through with 1 cut.

Mark a cutting line round the pipe, and cut in a small section, then rotate the pipe and cut along the line again. Then file it back to your actual line you need to be at.

yeah i had a go on a spare bit, took my time doing it in sections so i stayed on the line.

i think my parcel tape trick will work i just need a longer bit of pipe!

buy an exhaust cutter, proper tool for the job. or hire one
or possibly borrow one off a garage.
youll never get it 100% with just a grinder, but at the same time you cant do it wrong with a proper cutter!

Stick a jubilee clip on and use it as a guide, put the screw part at the bottom and take your time. Then use a sheet of 40 grit sand paper on a flat worktop and rub the pipe in a circular motion on it and that will take the highs off it giving you a nice flat straight edge to weld with

Probably struggle with stainless as I bet them cutters are more aimed at the softer mild steel
